SAMUEL PRUCHNO

January 6, 1927 - April 10, 2017

SERVICES: 12:00 NOON FRIDAY 4/14/2017 at HEBREW MEMORIAL CHAPEL A LINK WILL BE PROVIDED FOR A WEBCAST OF THE FUNERAL SERVICE. Samuel Pruchno, age 90, of Southfield, Vice President of Normac, a tool and die company, retired at age 75 after a very successful career. He fulfilled his dream of becoming an artist and depicted the horrors of the Holocaust in seven works of art that are on loan at the Holocaust Museum in Farmington Hills. His paintings bear witness to his experiences, involved a great deal of research for the details and serve as educational tools about discrimination and anti-semitism. He also co-authored Resilience – from Shavl to Southfield via Dachau, his biography written by his daughter Marcia Pruchno Lawrence. Additionally he was involved with serious Torah study with Rabbi Menachem Greenfield. He spent his retirement years with his wife Judy, in Michigan and Florida, enjoying their time together. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Judy Pruchno and was the husband for 28 years of his loving wife, the late Muriel Pruchno. Devoted father of Marcia (Dr. Eli) Lawrence and Robert Pruchno. Chosen father of Debbie (Dr. Michael) Akerman and Daniel (Tamara) Schwartz. Loving grandfather of Max Lawrence, Chava (Meir) Wolfson, Leba (Michel) Abramson, Boruch Moshe Avraham OBM, Shlomo Zalman, Yochonon (Diana Izralova), Yachet Malca, Blima Rochel, Asher Chaim, Miriam, Elazar and Meir Nosson Junger, Alex, Talia and Gershon Schwartz. Proud great-grandfather of Rivkie, Malkie, Nechama, Yocheved, Batsheva Esther OBM, and Bracha Esther Wolfson, Dalia and Boruch Nechemia Abramson. Cherished brother and brother-in-law of the late Albert (Arlene) Pruchno, the late Gladys Pruchno, the late Masa (late Yechiel) Saks, the late Lily Pruchno. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. OFFICIATING: Rabbi Y.
