ELI LABINER
May 9, 1933 - February 27, 2017
SERVICES: 12:00 NOON FRIDAY 3/3/2017 at HEBREW MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY CHAPEL.. A long time professor of philosophy at Mott College in Flint, Eli was an army veteran and served in Japan. He received an award for sharpshooting. He also worked with the University of Maryland and was able to set up the first correspondence course for veterans. He was active with many Yiddish clubs in Flint and loved music, books and installed a love of Gilbert and Sullivan to his family. Age 83, of Flint, Michigan, died February 27, 2017. Beloved husband for 55 years to Joyce Labiner. Devoted father of Miriam (David) Rosen, the late Jordan Labiner, Norah( Michael Wisti) Labiner and Gideon (Karen Mitchell) Labiner. Loving grandfather of Aaron Rosen and Sydney Rosen. Cherished brother to the late Shirley (late Sidney) Riger. OFFICIATING: Leonard Meizlish INTERMENT: Hebrew Memorial Park Cemetery SHIVA: Following the interment, the family will gather briefly at a place to be determined. ON SUNDAY, the family will observe Shiva at the residence 615 Greenfield Avenue Flint, MI 48503 THE FAMILY HAS REQUESTED THAT CONDOLENCE VISITS BE MADE BETWEEN 5:00 PM AND 7:30 PM RELIGIOUS SERVICES: 7:00 PM Sunday evening.
