Hebrew Memorial Chapel

Imminent/Immediate Needs

If a death has occurred or seems to be imminent:

When pre-arrangements have been made, any documents and instructions left by the deceased should be followed very carefully. If the death took place in a hospital or nursing home, the family will need to sign a release before we can transfer the deceased to the funeral chapel.

Death at home necessitates a call to the police who will contact the medical examiner. It is the medical examiner who will release the deceased, allowing us to transfer your loved one to the chapel. If death occurs out of state, one call to us will begin the process of transferring the deceased to Detroit or to any other city for funeral services and burial.

Once you call Hebrew Memorial Chapel, we can begin directing each step of the funeral process.

We will meet with you and ask that you bring information about the deceased, such as Social Security number, date of birth and parents' names (in English and in Hebrew).  This will allow us to facilitate the funeral and burial, coordinating the service, cemetery and clergy.

We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please call us, so that we can help you care for your loved one.
